1.  Does the partnership have enough values to enter into a CONSTRUCTIVE auction?

2.  Is there an eight card or better major suit fit?

3.  If not, are there enough controls and tricks available to play no trump?

4.  Are there enough points and tricks available to try for a game level contract?

5.  Should I be looking to go beyond game?

6.  If I can't find a major suit fit and no trump does not seem to be correct, is there a seven card major suit fit that is playable?

7.  Should I settle for a minor suit part-score or game contract?

If none of the above apply, then:

1.  Do I have the distribution to bid DESTRUCTIVELY?

2.  Should I make a pre-emptive bid at the two, three, or four level?

3.  If the opponents have bid a game, should I consider a sacrifice?

4.  During the opponents auction, does the opportunity arise where I can help my partner by making a lead directing double?
